• Melissa McCarthy: ‘Angelina Jolie is weirdly glowing’
Melissa McCarthy has confessed to being starstruck upon meeting Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
The Bridesmaids actress revealed that she met Jolie and Pitt while walking the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards last month, an experience which put her in a „weird altered state”.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, McCarthy recalled: „So I’m already in some weird altered state talking to Brad and Angelina, They’re so nice and chatty and really bubbly. Finally, I got a little weird and I was like, ‘You have to stop for a minute because it’s a lot visually to take in’.
„They just kind of laughed. I said, ‘No really. It is a lot visually to take in’. She’s like weirdly glowing. She’s so beautiful. He’s kind of cute too. And then I was like, ‘Okay, I’m sorry’. I needed to regroup because they’re kind of a lot.”
McCarthy went on to reveal that her embarrassment only increased when she was introduced to Meryl Streep at the same event.
„As I’m talking to them somebody is pulling on my hand and I hear, ‘Melissa, Melissa’. And I turned around and she said, ‘Hi, I’m Meryl’. Literally, my brain snapped in two. And then I really didn’t know what to say. I just kept going ‘Oh my God. You’re Meryl Streep!’ And she was chatting like a normal human being,” McCarthy said.
„And I said, ‘Oh my god. I’m sorry. I thought over the years so many things if I ever got to meet you… what I would say. This is not it!’ And she goes, ‘Oh my God. Don’t even worry about it’. For some reason I felt I need to bookend it with, and repeat, ‘Oh my God. You’re Meryl Streep’.”
McCarthy has been nominated for an Academy Award in the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category for her work in Bridesmaids.
After seven years together and six kids, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be changing their tune on marriage.
„We’d actually like to [get married]” Pitt tells The Hollywood Reporter, „and it seems to mean more and more to our kids.”
Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36, have said in the past that they would only tie the knot when same-sex marriages were legalized. „But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot,” Pitt tells the magazine. „And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”
Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston for five years before they famously split and he began dating Jolie soon after. They have six children together: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax and twins Knox and Vivienne.
When asked if he had popped the question to Jolie, Pitt refused to answer. Whether or not he and Jolie exchange „I dos” sometime in the near future, legalizing same-sex unions is still an important issue to Pitt. „To be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous,” he said.
Pitt received two Oscar nominations earlier this week — for starring in and producing Best Picture nominated film Moneyball. He may receive a third nomination if he qualifies as a producer on The Tree of Life, which was also nominated for the top prize.
The actress, 35, and her partner Pitt, 48, already raise six children together, but are expecting their seventh child this year, according to OK! magazine.
„Its not something she wants to officially announce but she’s at a point where she is telling a select group of people,” a source told the magazine.
„Angelina is really savouring every moment. She’s having a tough time with morning sickness but says its all worth it.”
Jolie has spoken in the past about how much she enjoys being pregnant. „I love being pregnant,” she has said. „You feel like more like a woman than you’ve ever felt. You just feel like everything about your body is there for your baby.”
Jolie and Pitt are already biological parents to children Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne, as well as adopted children Maddox, Pax and Zahara.
The star has already started decorating a room for the new arrival, according to the source.
„Angelina has cleared out her bedroom and redone it in white. She wants it to have a Zen-like feeling because she believes in the mind-body connection and wants her mind at peace,” the source said.
Jolie and Pitt fully dressed their part as a glamorous Hollywood power couple at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards: She in a body-hugging white strapless gown with a flash of red at the bustline by Atelier Versace that matched perfectly her lips and handbag, and he in a classic, bow-tie tuxedo by Salvatore Ferragamo.
„A Separation” by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi won the best foreign language film at the Golden Globe awards on Sunday, beating rivals from China, Spain and Belgium, as well as Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, „In the Land of Milk and Honey”.
While in D.C. for her premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey, Angelina Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt made news as they stopped by the White House.
Jolie explained the purpose of their visit with President Obama at the Golden Globe Foreign Language Film Panel Discussion.
The new director said she and Pitt were there for two different reasons. Pitt was there to meet with Vice President Joe Biden about his work in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, The Mirror reports.
Jolie, on the other hand, was there in support of the lead actress in In the Land of Blood and Honey, Zana Marjanovic.
“I went with our Zana Marjanovic, our lead actress, to speak about Sarajevo [the capital Bosnia and Herzegovina] and our concerns about some things going on,” said the mother of six, The Hindustan Times reports.
“So we spoke with him [Obama] briefly and then we spoke a lot to the people who work underneath him in the trenches and tried to figure out how we can do some stuff to continue healing in Bosnia and make sure it’s headed in the right direction.”
Jolie seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time there, noting “It was wonderful, I was very, very happy. There are so many things going on in foreign policy and Zana spoke beautifully about very specific concerns. I was very proud of her, so I was really there to stand by her
Angelina Jolie doesn’t take her handsome hunk Brad Pitt for granted!
Both Jolie, 36, and love of nearly seven years Pitt, 48, left Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards empty handed — Jolie’s In the Land of Blood and Honey didn’t nab the Best Foreign Language Film globe, and Moneyball star Pitt lost to pal George Clooney in the Best Actor, Drama category.
But Jolie (looking spectacular in satin one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown, bright red lipstick and a dramatic updo hairstyle) had quite the consolation prize: Pitt!
„You’re prettier than me,” Jolie gushed to her man as they arrived quietly at the CAA afterparty at unset Tower. Pitt looked dashing as always in a Salvatore Ferragamo three-piece tuxedo.
Added Jolie: „My shoes are going to kill me!”
„It’s nice when everything comes together,” Pitt told E!’s Ryan Seacrest of their double nominations. „It’s a golden night for us!”
Indeed, Jolie naughtily told the Associated Press what she was most looking forward to that evening: „Getting into bed with Brad!”
